Our story

Built because finding
therapy is too hard.

Clary started with a simple frustration: when someone finally decides to seek therapy — which takes enormous courage — they should not have to spend weeks on waitlists, guessing which therapist might be right, with no way to know if it is actually helping.

We built Clary to fix that. Thoughtful matching, continuous progress tracking, and tools that support both patients and therapists — built with honesty about what technology can and cannot do.

Mission

Therapy that moves people forward.

Mental health care in India is under-resourced, hard to navigate, and often inaccessible — financially and geographically. We are not trying to solve all of that at once.

We are focused on one thing: making it significantly easier for someone to find the right therapist, build a real relationship with them, and know it is working. That is enough for now. The rest follows.

Human first

Technology is a tool. Every decision we make starts with the question: does this make someone's experience of therapy better? If not, we don't build it.

Outcome driven

Therapy should measurably help. We track progress not to create dashboards, but because knowing something is working — or is not — changes what happens next.

Honest about limits

AI can assist. It cannot diagnose, cannot replace clinical judgment, and will not always get it right. We are transparent about this — always.

AI on Clary

What AI does here.
And what it does not.

We use AI in three specific places. We want to be completely clear about what it does in each — and where the human is always in charge.

01

Therapist matching

What AI does

When you complete the assessment, AI compares your answers against therapist profiles — specialisations, approach, communication style, language, availability — and ranks the best fits.

What AI does not do

It does not diagnose you. It does not decide who you see. You always choose from the matches presented.

02

Session note summaries

What AI does

After a session, AI drafts a summary of key themes for the therapist. The therapist reviews, edits, and decides what to save.

What AI does not do

AI does not write clinical assessments or treatment plans. The therapist is always the author of their clinical record.

03

Progress theme detection

What AI does

AI analyses your mood logs and journal entries (only those you choose to share) to surface recurring themes — patterns you and your therapist can explore.

What AI does not do

These are observations, not conclusions. They are prompts for conversation, not diagnoses.

Important: AI is assistive, not diagnostic. All clinical decisions — treatment approaches, risk assessments, referrals — are made by your licensed therapist. If AI output ever feels wrong, trust your instincts and raise it with your therapist.

Data & privacy

Your data is yours.
Always.

Mental health data is among the most sensitive data that exists. We treat it accordingly — not because we have to, but because it is the right thing to do.

Encrypted end to end

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Session content, notes, and journals are encrypted at the application layer — not just the database.

What we collect

We collect your phone number, profile information, assessment answers, mood logs, and session feedback. We collect the minimum needed to run the platform.

Sessions are not recorded by default

We do not record your video sessions. If your therapist uses session transcription features in future, you will be explicitly asked to consent before any session.

AI training — never without consent

Your data is never used to train AI models without your explicit opt-in consent. AI features on Clary use your data only to serve you, not to improve models for others.

We do not sell your data

We do not share your personal data with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes. Data is shared only as needed to run the service (e.g. video platform, payment processor).

Right to deletion

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (India), you have the right to request deletion of your data at any time. Contact us and we will process it within 30 days.

Ethics

What we commit to.

These are not aspirational values on a poster. They are specific commitments that shape how we build and how we operate — and we want to be held to them.

01

We do not overstate what we are

Clary is a platform that connects patients with therapists. We are not a mental health provider. Therapists on the platform are independent licensed professionals, not Clary employees. We facilitate — we do not treat.

02

We do not exploit vulnerability

People come to Clary at difficult moments in their lives. We will never use urgency, guilt, or emotional pressure to drive purchasing decisions. Pricing is clear. Cancellation is easy. Pressure has no place here.

03

We surface hard truths

If progress stalls, we tell you. If a match is not working, we make switching easy and frictionless. We would rather lose a session fee than leave someone in a therapeutic relationship that isn't helping.

04

We hold therapists to standards

Every therapist on Clary is manually reviewed. Credentials are verified. Patient feedback shapes who stays. A therapist who consistently receives poor outcomes or feedback is reviewed and may be removed.

05

We are transparent about AI

We tell you exactly where AI is used, what it does, and what it cannot do. We do not hide AI behind a human-sounding interface. You always know when you are interacting with something automated.

06

We take crisis seriously

Clary is not a crisis service — and we say so clearly, repeatedly. If a patient indicates risk of self-harm during onboarding, we do not proceed silently. We surface emergency resources immediately and prominently.
